The following is the code of ethics adopted by COPE National, to promote
efficient service and professional conduct of the members of the organization,
who are required to observe these practices in order to remain a member in good
standing:
Each electrologist is required to keep his/her knowledge refreshed by continued
educational programs throughout all of his/her professional life.
Each electrologist is required to give the highest quality of professional service
of which he/she is capable at all times.
Each electrologist shall limit his/her practice to the highest quality of approved
techniques or methods of hair removal.
No guarantee of anything beyond the professional competence of the electrologist will be
offered to a client.
Electrologists are forbidden to practice any kind of healing art not included within
the practice of electrology, unless he/she has been otherwise duly qualified.
Electrologists who have been found guilty of malpractice or moral turpitude will be
suspended from COPE National.
All electrologists must maintain exemplary standards of personal conduct, honesty,
integrity and dedication to professional services.
Each electrologist must hold all information pertaining to the client in the
strictest of confidence.
Advertisements of free treatments will not be used as an inducement to patronage.
Electrologists are asked to adhere to the statutory prohibitions of advertising with
the same spirit as other health related professions; to avoid any claim regarding the
number of hairs that can be treated in an hour; to not advertise by means of flashing
electric signs; to not make any misrepresentation, false, fraudulent, or misleading
statements through the press, circulating advertising matter, radio, television,
display, or otherwise.
